Lissy Trullie LP
Produced by John Hill (Santigold, MIA) and David Sitek (TV On the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Lissy Trullie is the follow up to her critically acclaimed debut EP Self-Taught Learner.
Playing guitar and writing songs since age eleven, and in bands since she was 14, it was 2009’s self-recorded and appropriately titled Self-Taught Learner that served as the world’s introduction to Lissy Trullie. The debut EP was made hastily on a tiny budget, but word of its understated charm spread and its protagonist was soon on the road with TV On The Radio, Blondie and the Cribs.
Over the intervening years, Trullie began to develop the material that would comprise her first album. There were songwriting sessions in London and Stockholm, but it wasn’t until she headed to LA to collaborate with producers Hill and Sitek that the record really began to take shape.
Lissy Trullie is coolly confident in feel, its propulsive punk foundation yielding to memorable pop choruses. Dirty guitars and driving, new wave drums are countered by swirling synths, brass, and layers of vocals, with Trullie’s voice and presence commanding throughout.
