Simian Mobile Disco’s Human Synthesiser!

Simian Mobile Disco celebrate the release of their brand-new album ‘Temporary Pleasure’ by creating the first ever-human augmented reality music and visuals mixer.  The piece will be installed at the ‘Temporary Pleasure’ shop on Carnaby Street, for a whole week.  The pop up shop will be open to the public from the 17 August to the 21 August from 12 till 6pm.  A special launch event will take on place on the 14 August 2009, which is invite only.

The installation is an interactive augmented reality experience, which means visitors to the shop will be able to interact with a brand new never-heard-before SMD creation.  What is augmented reality? I hear you cry. Well, augmented reality (AR) a new medium, which mixes real-world and computer-generated images (virtual reality), making it look like virtual objects exist in the real world.  Speaking about the Temporary Pleasure shop SMD said, “this installation reflects the concepts behind the record – it’s brief, fun, and how could we resist the chance to augment the reality of the general public? We think people are going to really love the technology. The AR technology is amazing and we think people are going to love it.”

The installation is designed by Kate Moross and produced by London based company Inition with their Magic Symbol technology (www.inition.co.uk). Temporary Pleasure the new album by Simian Mobile Disco will be released through Wichita Recordings on the 17 August 2009.
